Daniel A. Reidy
Upon receiving his J.D. from the University of San Francisco in 1988, Dan began his legal career at Owen Wickersham & Erickson as a copyright and trademark attorney. An entrepreneur at heart, Dan left the firm in 1990 to start his own practice and never looked back.
Dan has successfully represented hundreds of clients in intellectual property litigation and transactions. One notable case that Dan helmed was the filing of a copyright infringement class action case on behalf of freelance authors against a Knight-Ridder subsidiary for selling thousands of authors’ articles without their permission. After several years of hard-fought litigation and multiple favorable rulings, Dan negotiated a multi-million dollar settlement that resulted in significant payments to hundreds of infringed authors.
In addition to his litigation experience, Dan has successfully negotiated countless intellectual property transactions involving the licensing, and acquisition of major brands and entertainment properties. Before shifting his focus to wine, beer and spirits brands in 2008, as an entertainment attorney Dan negotiated and procured highly valuable exclusive rights for his clients from such artists as The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Taylor Swift, U2, Sting, The Police and many more. Now Dan proudly represents many of Napa and Sonoma’s finest wine brands, and he could not be happier!
When not playing ball or riding ATVs with his son, Dan tends to his 200 tree olive orchard and produces killer olive oil for friends and family (and clients!).
